SEMI-CONTACT MUAY THAI
TECHNICAL COMPETITION: NO KNOCKOUTS
MTX is designed to emphasize technical precision, controlled execution, and competitive spirit in a no-knockout format. This platform provides athletes the opportunity to test their skills, gain valuable mat sparring experience, and advance their Muay Thai development with confidence. The program serves both newcomers seeking their first competitive experience and seasoned practitioners aiming to refine their technical abilities while preparing fighters for the amateur level.

Early registration for all divisions: $60
Normal registration for all divisions (after 6/20/2026): $70
Late registration: (after 6/26/2026) $75

FIGHTING ELIGIBILITY AND DISCLOSURE REQUIREMENTS
All competitors must disclose their complete competitive history during registration, including:
- Point Muay Thai/Kickboxing
- Point Boxing
- Smokers
- Amateur Muay Thai/Kickboxing
- Amateur Boxing
- Amateur MMA
Professional fighters are NOT ineligible to compete in this tournament
CLASS DIVISIONS
Competitors are assigned to classes based on their documented stand-up competition history:
- C Class: 0-3 previous matches
- B Class: 4-6 previous matches
- A Class: 7-10 previous matches
- A Amateur: 11+ previous matches
WEIGHT CLASSES
Competitors register at their chosen weight and must weigh in at the specified weight on tournament day. Matchups will be arranged within a 10-pound range. Weight cutting is neither required nor encouraged.

RULES AND DIVISION INFORMATION
All matches are officiated by certified ISKA officials. Rule violations will result in disqualification.
Adults Semi-Contact Division
- Format: 3 rounds × 2:00 minutes, 1:00 minute rest periods
- Rules: MTX Semi-Contact ruleset
- Matchmaking Criteria: Age, weight (within 10 lbs), and competition experience/years training
Youth Semi-Contact Division
- Ages 6-8: 3 rounds × 1:00 minute, 1:00 minute rest periods
- Ages 9-17: 3 rounds × 1:30 minutes, 1:00 minute rest periods
- Rules: MTX Semi-Contact ruleset
- Matchmaking Criteria: Age (within 24 months), weight (within 10 lbs), and competition experience/years training
MTX SEMI-CONTACT RULESET
1. No Knockouts or Technical Knockouts Knockouts result in immediate disqualification. Deliberate attempts to achieve a knockout will result in one warning, followed by disqualification.
2. Semi-Contact Standards Matches follow point sparring protocols with strikes delivered at a maximum of 70% power. Excessive power will result in one warning, followed by disqualification.
3. Competitor Safety Protocols Fighter safety is the primary priority. Referees are authorized to intervene or stop matches at any time for safety reasons, including but not limited to:
- Inadequate defense due to injury, skill deficiency, or exhaustion
- Risk of serious injury
- Use of unsportsmanlike tactics or illegal techniques
- Strikes delivered at maximum power
Scoring Criteria: Demonstrate superior Muay Thai technique, conditioning, and sportsmanship while adhering to the established ruleset.
Permitted Techniques:
- Punches: Jab, cross, hook, uppercut, body punches
- Kicks: Round kicks, push kicks, leg kicks
- Knees: To the body only
- Sweeps: Using the top of the foot only
- Kick Catches: Maximum of two steps after catching a kick or one sweep attempt
- Clinch: Knees to the body only; sweeps permitted in clinch
- Defensive Techniques: Blocks, checks, catches, evasion, parries, head movement
Prohibited Techniques:
- Elbows
- Knees to the head
- Any spinning techniques (kicks or punches)
- Kicks to the knee
- Push kicks/side kicks to the leg
- Axe kicks
- Wrestling takedowns (double/single leg, lateral drop, fireman carry, etc.)
- Judo throws (hip toss, etc.)
- Strikes to the back of the head, spine, groin, or throat
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT
Protective Gear (All Divisions):
- Boxing gloves: 16oz (ages 13+); 10oz or 12oz (ages 6-12, weight-dependent)
- Shin guards
- Headgear
- Mouthpiece
- Athletic cup (required)
Attire:
- Training shorts (no pockets)
- Rash guard or t-shirt (must be tucked in); no shirt permitted
Cornerman/Coach Equipment:
- Bucket
- Towel
- Water
